One
of the most universal symbols, the spiral is a graphic depiction of
power that concentrates energy at its center and spins it out in
endlessly expanding circle. Images of the spiral can be found in
cultures as diverse as the the Maasai of West Africa and the Anasazi of
the American Southwest. Maasai mothers wear large spirals of gold
which gather strength from their bodies and are passed on to the next
generation. This symbol of strength is found throughout the
collection.
